This American Mind

Each nation has been brought into existence by the desires and consciousness of individuals and communities, shaped by collective action through power, wealth, revolution, and resistance. Each individual has been brought into existence by the desires and consciousness of individuals and communities, shaped by the consciousness of their family in nations formed by power, wealth, and conflict. The histories we hold to, the holidays we celebrate, the places we live, the things we buy, and the sports we watch are near enough to destiny until the paths are illumined and new ones can be charted.

This American Mind is an ongoing project to photograph the invisible forces that shape the consciousness of America. Comprising photographs taken during roadtrips across the United States and titled for the location of the image or the event captured, I aim to weave the threads of individualism into a tapestry of our collectivism.
